Change Management, procedure 5. Implementing emergency changes

Procedure Summary

Emergency changes are only implemented when there is absolutely no other alternative, as changes made without applying the planning, analysis, and approval procedures will often have unexpected results. The procedure for making an emergency change consists of first carrying out the change and then documenting it afterwards:

  1. The Change Coordinator implements the change following his own criteria and best judgement. If possible, the Change Manager, CAB members and Specialists should be consulted beforehand, and kept informed at all times while the necessary changes are made.

  2. Once the actions have been carried out, the Change is registered in the system and the details of the change are documented.

  3. The Change Manager reviews all the information to ensure that it has been correctly documented before closing the change.
